Ms. Jacobs joined the Firm in 2007 as an associate in the Litigation Department. She has a complex commercial litigation practice which focuses on contracts and business torts, unfair competition, intellectual property litigation, as well as other business litigation. Ms. Jacobs’s recent work includes successfully representing the Firm in a dispute against a Third Party Administrator that made errors in administering the Firm’s 401(k) plan. After a full trial on the merits, a federal court jury found in favor of the Firm and awarded it 100% of the damages it sought.
Ms. Jacobs’s pro bono activities have included successfully seeking asylum on behalf of a child persecuted for having been born in violation of China’s one child policy and currently include assisting victims of domestic violence to seek restraining orders against their abusers.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Jacobs served as a law clerk to the Honorable David W. Hagen (Ret.) of the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. From 2004 to 2007, Ms. Jacobs was associated with Latham & Watkins LLP in its San Francisco office.
Ms. Jacobs is admitted to practice law in all state and federal courts in California, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ms. Jacobs is a member of the the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the American Bar Association, and the National Association of Women Lawyers.
Ms. Jacobs is on the Board of Directors of Spark, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for, and awareness of, issues that impact women’s human rights globally.
Ms. Jacobs received her law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley in 2003, where she was Order of the Coif. In addition to being Order of the Coif, Ms. Jacobs received several honors and awards during law school including, the American Jurisprudence Awards in Constitutional Law and International Business Transactions, the Prosser Prize in Remedies, and Cali Awards for Excellence in Contracts and Criminal Law. Ms. Jacobs received her undergraduate degree, with honors, in 2000, also from the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned a B.A. in comparative literature and was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. As an undergraduate, Ms. Jacobs was also a member of the Varsity Women’s Crew Team.
