Shartsis Friese Adds Three
Jeffrey Braker Bolsters Corporate Practice

San Francisco, April 22, 2008 – Shartsis Friese llp announced today that Jeffrey L. Braker, Nicholas A. Pilgrim, and David S. Hong have joined the firm.

Jeffrey L. Braker, who joins the firm’s Business Department as of counsel, has extensive experience counseling clients in a broad array of corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private placements, public securities offerings, secured financing transactions, strategic partnering and technology licensing arrangements. His representation has extended from start-ups and early round financings through initial public offerings and acquisitions.

He began his legal career at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in San Francisco, before moving to Seyfarth Shaw and then Morrison & Foerster in Los Angeles. Mr. Braker founded his own firm, Olsen Kim & Braker LLP, in 2003. He received his J.D., cum laude, in 1988 from the University of Michigan Law School, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy in the same year from the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. Mr. Braker attended the London School of Economics before graduating from Columbia College in 1983. Mr. Braker is a past Chairman of the Business Law Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association.

Nicholas A. Pilgrim is an associate in the Litigation Department. He was previously with Skadden Arps in Houston. Mr. Pilgrim’s practice emphasizes intellectual property, contracts and business torts, and securities litigation. He received his law degree, with honors, from the University of Chicago Law School in 2003 and his B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Hobart College in 2000. After graduating from law school, Mr. Pilgrim worked as a Law Clerk for the Hon. Gerald Bard Tjoflat, U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit.

David S. Hong is an associate in the Business Department. His practice emphasizes the representation of investment funds and advisers. He received his J.D. (2006) and LL.M (2008) in Banking and Financial Law, from Boston University School of Law and his B.A. in Communications from the University of California at Davis in 2002. At Boston University, Mr. Hong was a member of the American Journal of Law and Medicine and served as an extern to the Honorable Joan A. Madden, New York State Supreme Court.
