Ms. Hamilton joined the firm in 2002 as an associate in the Business Department. She specializes in general business and corporate matters, with an emphasis on representing investment advisers, including advisers to hedge funds and other private investment funds, and traditional advisers to separately-managed accounts. Prior to joining Shartsis Friese LLP, Ms. Hamilton was a vice-president at Banc of America Securities LLC, serving initially in the compliance department and later in trading supervision.
Ms. Hamilton is actively involved with the Association of Women in Alternative Investing, serving as secretary. She is also involved with the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights’ Legal Services for Entrepreneurs, and a member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds, the Financial Women’s Association and the Business Law Sections of the Bar Association of San Francisco and the California State Bar. Ms. Hamilton is a co-author of U.S. Regulation of Hedge Funds (ABA 2005).
Ms. Hamilton received her B.A. degree in History, cum laude, from Dartmouth College in 1993. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2002. At Hastings, Ms. Hamilton was a member of the Hastings Law Journal, Thurston Society and Order of the Coif, and served as an extern to the Honorable Vaughn R. Walker, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. In 2002, she received the West Group’s Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement.
